Team Building
Add fun, adventure, reality, results to your training.

DoingWorks has developed a variety of workshops to assist in the process of employee and culture development. Included is a brief description, recommended length of the program, cost and limitations.

All workshops will include experiential learning processes - we will not repeat activities in any of the workshops. Most of the workshops can be facilitated for intact groups even when listed as open sign-up.

We can help you find locations for the multiple day workshops with overnight accommodations. Multiple day workshops without overnight accommodations provided, or single day workshops can be held at your site or at a convenient location near you.

Personal Profile System
Description: The foundation of personal and professional success lies in understanding self, understanding others and realizing the impact of personal behavior of the people around you. For more than 20 years, the Personal Profile System has unlocked the door to productive communication and relationships for over 30 million people, worldwide, through its DiSC Dimensions of Behavior learning approach. DiSC Dimensions of Behavior provides a non-judgmental language for exploring behavioral issues. This system helps people:
*discover behavioral strengths
*value the strengths of others
*manage/lead effectively
*foster teamwork
*improve communication skills
*enhance customer relationships

This learning system provides in-depth self awareness that will positively impact personal and professional relationships. Completion of this workshop establishes a learning foundation for other DoingWorks workshops. This workshop in conjunction with others could be an option for those who need to revisit the DiSC process.
Length: 8 hours
Conditions: Open sign up, 10-25 participants

Challenge Course Experience
We will show you "The Ropes"
Objectives:
* Explore the concepts, behaviors and actions of effective teamwork.
* Create a true experiential process where action and consequence are linked close in time and space, which enhances the learning.
* Practice and test the concepts taught in the classroom.
* Increase participants' energy toward using what they've learned.
* Challenge assumptions and step out of the "comfort zone".
* Explore the concepts of trust, support, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
* Fun!
Description: DoingWorks can facilitate low and high ropes or challenge course elements for your group. This experience can stand alone or be integrated into the organization's existing training programs. These programs can be customized to support and reinforce the content and concepts of existing leadership and team building training curricula. Why experiential training or a challenge course? The premise is simple--experiential learning focuses on learning that involves the whole person and applies the learning in all aspects of being. The challenge course simulates crises and chaos similar to work. The team must project their decision-making process and group intelligence onto the experience for the team to be successful. This is a mini-life, practice laboratory. DoingWorks has accessed and facilitated courses world wide.
Length: 4 hours to 5 days
Conditions: 4-15 participants per facilitator

Self-Management - Improving Your Time Management/Organization Skills
Description: DoingWorks utilizes a Time Mastery self-assessment tool and experiential process to assist participants in self-management. Time is not adaptable, people are. If time seems out of control, it means we are out of control. To bring ourselves back under control, we must learn new, more appropriate habits. This research-based workshop fosters self-awareness for long-term performance results.
Length: 12 hours
Conditions: Open sign up, 10-20 participants, completion of the Personal Profile System (PPS) workshop.

Managers - Motivating Employees
Description: Participants can unravel the mystery of motivating employees in this action-oriented session. Kenneth Blanchard's Situational Leadership theory shows why "nothing is so unequal as the equal treatment of unequals" while it teaches you how to become a flexible leader. Learn why you must fit your style to the needs of the individual; how to diagnose a situation correctly so that you know when to delegate, support, or direct; how to contract with your people for the leadership style that suits them best. Utilizing an assessment tool that bridges DiSC Personal Profile and Situational Leadership theory, managers will develop effective ways to communicate with and motivate individuals in their supervisory group. Come prepared to complete a plan of approach based on your assessment of each employee's DiSC style and their need for direction and support based on DiSC and Situational Leadership theory.
Length: 16 hours
Conditions: Open sign up, 12-18 participants. Completion of the Personal Profile System workshop or equivalent.

Customer Care
Description: Understanding what will "speak to" the needs of internal and external customers can help project managers keep their focus. Using Customer Care Action Planners and experiential activities, participants can increase customer satisfaction and improve customer service by identifying customers' preferred approach to communication and problem-solving. Come prepared to complete Customer Service Action Planners on specific customers with whom you want to increase effective communications.
Length: 8 hours
Conditions: Open sign up, 10-20 participants. Completion of the Personal Profile System workshop.

Jump-Start Your Brain!- Creative Problem-Solving
Description: Utilizing proven methods developed by a former marketing guru for Procter and Gamble, DoingWorks facilitates a combination of classroom discussion and hands-on techniques to help participants explore their current brain operating system and increase their creative problem-solving techniques by up to 500 percent.
Length: 8 hours
Conditions: Open sign-up, 10-20 participants

Dimensions in Leadership Retreat: Understanding Your Contribution to the Organization as a Leader
Description: Collapsing the vertical structure in organizations and building up the team approach has dramatically altered our understanding of leadership. Today, leadership needs to be addressed in its multiple dimensions. This leadership retreat will take participants out of their comfort zone into the learning zone - a place of risk and growth. DoingWorks will administer a battery of inventories to give participants a clear picture of their strengths and challenges as leaders. An option is to include feedback by an immediate supervisor or trusted co-worker through a Leadership Practices Inventory described below. This retreat will provide an intense focus on participant's individual leadership qualities. The experiential learning methodologies will give participants the opportunity to lead the group and to receive feedback on their leadership practices to prepare them for creating a personal leadership development plan.

Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) Leadership is an observable, learnable set of practices. The LPI is part of an extensive research project into everyday actions and behaviors of exemplary leaders at all levels in a variety of settings. Five practices were identified as common to most extraordinary leadership achievements. When performing at their best, leaders challenge, inspire, enable, model, and encourage. The LPI helps participants discover to what extent they have adopted these 5 practices. Focus Point (FP) This DiSC based instrument allows participants to focus on themselves in 2 different or changing situations. At companies, there are frequently gaps between the comfortable leadership behaviors of Managers and the behaviors required in a new, team approach. The FP will allow participants to establish awareness of the difference and develop a strategy for closing the gap.

Dimensions of Leadership (DL)
Collapsing organizational hierarchies and increasing work force diversity has dramatically altered our understanding of leadership. Today, leaders come in many varieties, from charismatic visionaries to quiet team players. Leadership needs to be understood in its multiple dimensions, with leaders and followers interchanging roles as the situation demands. The DL will help participants to discover personal leadership characteristics, to define the approaches needed by leaders, and to understand how to interchange roles as the situation demands.
Length: 4 days
Conditions: Open sign-up, 10-15 participants. Completion of the Personal Profile System (PPS) workshop (PPS can be added to this retreat - the program will increase to 5 days

Work Teams/Project Teams - Hit the Ground Running!
Description: Successful work team members don't do the same thing at the same time. They do the right thing at the right time. A clear understanding of individual roles, in the process of working together toward a common goal, is the first step to creating cohesive, high performance teams. The Team Dimensions Profile helps work teams to:
*identify individual strengths and approaches to teamwork
*clarify team members' roles
*reinforce the contributions of every team member
*reduce work cycle time and increase productivity
*foster mutual support
*enhance performance
Work teams or project teams will work through the Personal Profile System to create interpersonal understanding and the Team Dimensions Profile to create team role understanding. With this targeted focus, in combination with experiential learning methods, old and new work "groups" will spend 2 days preparing to Hit the Ground Running! as a cohesive, high performing work "team". This preparation will prove the wisdom of "going slower to go faster." The 2 day investment will eliminate the risk of work time being wasted in ineffective communication and role confusion.
Length: 16 hours
Conditions: Intact work/project teams and their managers

A Personal Visioning Journey: Discovering & Articulating Your Core Ideology
Description: Vision is one of the most overused--and least understood--words we use. This workshop invites participants to explore intrapersonally--to discover and describe their core ideology. This workshop is an opportunity for participants to "look in" for a change - an intrapersonal development process. The content is a guided experience using a model described in the Collins and Porras lead article in the September/October Harvard Business Review, the model developed in their book, Built to Last. The model gives clarity to the important balance between discovering what is core and should never change (core values & purpose) and creating what should be continually changing (envisioned future). Participants will work independently and in small groups through journaling, experiential exercises, and group discussion. The "product" of the workshop will be a clearly stated personal core ideology - core values, purpose for living, and envisioned future.
Length: 8 hours
Conditions: Open sign-up, 10-20 participants

Virtual World: A Journey into More Effective Teamwork
Description: Utilizing a unique and internationally renowned compass adventure designed by Sam Sikes, DoingWorks proposes going on-site to work with intact work teams. This half- or full-day experiential adventure helps teams deal with issues such as leadership, problem solving, decision making and strategic planning. A DoingWorks facilitator has many opportunities along the way to guide team discussions toward transfer of learning back to the workplace.
Length: 8 hours
Conditions: 2-11 participants per course (several courses can be facilitated concurrently)

The Commitment Coach - Taking the Changes From Workshop to Workplace
Description: Our natural human tendencies frequently draw us back into familiar, practiced behavior in spite of desire to change. Coaching provides encouragement, accountability, and increases the reliability of learners becoming comfortable users of new skills and behaviors. In the best of all worlds, supervisors take on this role. Sometimes, due to lack of time or ability, supervisors do not provide this important foundation - employees return from workshops into a work environment that discourages change. DoingWorks can fill this gap by providing the time and skill needed to help the new awareness become solid behavior. One strength the coaching relationship is that it steps out of the general focus of the workshop into intense focus on the specific behavior that needs to be coached. This role might include facilitating meetings between the supervisor and employee to create support and accountability for the desired behavior change. It can include on-the-job coaching, phone consultations, coaching of conflict resolution, whatever is needed to maximize the training dollar investment. Our experience in providing training with a strong interpersonal focus for our customers finds us with relationships that have a depth of trust with participants. Being available for coaching if needed would extend that relationship into the workplace to provide the coaching to transform commitment into change.
Length: As needed - initial trial period of 6 months
Cost: We suggest establishing a retainer fee based on a projected # of hours per month. Our day rate can be broken down into hours for direct service. (Records of actual time would be justified at the end of each month to extend or reduce the retainer time period) Requests for help that can be handled by phone or e-mail will either be 1/2 the hourly rate or no charge if it is a "check in" for encouragement or casual call. Our goal is to provide exemplary service with full value as evidenced by testimony by all parties involved.
Conditions: Accessed and approved through appropriate channels

Tailored Programs
Every organization is different. Our important first step is to get acquainted with you, your structure and operations, to understand your culture, your purpose, and your mission. We can then tailor the process to your needs. The assessment is critical to creating a process that "fits."

DoingWorks programs range from a few hours to ongoing training classes and organizational development consulting. We facilitate almost any "people" process. A DoingWorks specialty is linking with in-house training processes to add "practice" and energy, using experiential learning methods.
